I was diagnosed with depression when I was thirteen and put on Prozac. That failed, more drugs followed. Zoloft, Celexa, Lexapro, Pristiq, Effexor, Remeron, Wellbutrin, Serzone, Trintellix, Trazadone, Viibryd, Lithium, Seroquel, Abilify, Cymbalta, Amitriptyline, Rexulti, Parnate, Emsam, & Desoxyn. In my twenties, I started self-medicating with alcohol, heroin, methamphetamine, and other designer drugs. I finally tried transcranial magnetic stimulation and a full course of electroconvulsive therapy, which offered minor relief, but the memory loss was significant. All the psychiatric drugs had not helped, and may have actually done harm. Of course, the alcohol and drugs were not helping, just making everything worse. I was ready to die; I wanted to die. I finally got the opportunity to try ketamine in 2017. The results have been almost miraculous. I am now over a year sober, almost completely off all my psychiatric medications, and I am the happiest I’ve ever been. Unfortunately, finding the right doctor to administer ketamine wasn’t instantaneous. I tried three ketamine clinics, before finding the right fit. The Ketamine Healing Clinic of Los Angeles has been the most positive experience by far. Dr. Mahjoubi & his staff are fantastic – this is a ketamine clinic done right. The fact that Dr. Mahjoubi offers a take home nasal ketamine prescription to bolster and maintain the effects of IV infusion treatments is important to me.
